What Is in Your House?

What Is in Your House? devotional design
2 Kings 4:1–7“Tell me, what hast thou in the house?” — 2 Kings 4:2 (KJV).
A widow faced a debt she could not pay, and her children were at risk. When she cried to Elisha, he asked what she had in her house. She mentioned a pot of oil. What seemed insufficient became the starting point of God’s provision. The instruction involved borrowed vessels, her children’s participation, and the pouring of the oil. Afterwards, Elisha told her to sell the oil, pay the debt, and live on what remained. The miracle was followed by practical responsibility. In a season of divine acceleration, do not overlook what God has already entrusted to you. A skill, an honest business, a useful relationship, or an unfinished assignment may deserve fresh attention. Small resources are not proof that your future is small. Take inventory with gratitude. Ask for wisdom to develop what is available, and seek trustworthy advice concerning your obligations. This story is not a guarantee that every financial problem will disappear suddenly. It reveals God’s compassion and His ability to work through what appears inadequate. Bring your need to Him, and respond faithfully to the next clear instruction.

Confession of Faith

Do not despise your little oil. Offer what you have to God and use it faithfully.
