Overtaking Human Head Starts

Overtaking Human Head Starts devotional design
1 Kings 18:46b…and he ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
Ahab travelled toward Jezreel in his chariot, while Elijah ran on foot. Yet, when the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah, he ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. His extraordinary strength came from God’s empowering hand (1 Kings 18:45–46). This account reminds us that human advantage does not determine the limits of God’s work in our lives. You may look at your peers and feel that everyone has a head start. Perhaps delays, missed opportunities, or difficult circumstances have left you discouraged. But your present position does not place you beyond God’s help. Divine acceleration is not an invitation to compete with others; it is a call to trust God with your journey. The Lord can strengthen you, redeem opportunities, and enable progress beyond what your natural ability could accomplish. His grace does not remove the need for preparation, diligence, or obedience—it empowers you to respond faithfully. Notice that Elijah still had to run. God supplied the strength, but Elijah acted. Keep developing what God has entrusted to you. Take the next step, pursue the right opportunities, and remain faithful even when progress seems slow. Refuse to let comparison turn another person’s achievement into a verdict against your future. Bring your disappointment over lost time to God, and trust Him with what lies ahead. This passage does not promise that every believer will surpass others or receive an immediate breakthrough. It does reveal that God can empower His servants beyond their natural capacity. You may have started later than others, but you can still move forward with confidence in God. Keep your eyes on Him, keep your heart ready, and keep your feet moving in obedience.
