Girding Your Loins for the Run

Girding Your Loins for the Run devotional design
1 Kings 18:46Then the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins… — 1 Kings 18:46, NKJV, excerpt
In Elijah’s day, people gathered their long garments at the waist to run freely. When the Lord’s hand came upon Elijah, he girded up his loins and ran. God’s empowerment was accompanied by practical preparation. In this month of Divine Acceleration, respond to God’s grace with readiness and obedience. Hebrews 12:1 calls us to lay aside every weight and the sin that entangles us. Unforgiveness, distractions, and poor habits can hinder our progress. Girding your loins means becoming ready to obey. Forgive, organise your time, establish wise boundaries, and address harmful habits. You do not earn God’s grace through preparation; you respond to the grace already given in Christ. Today, remove what hinders you and take the next faithful step. Keep your eyes on Jesus and run with endurance. Action for Today Choose one hindrance and take one clear step to address it today. Replace the distraction with a habit that supports your walk with God.

Confession of Faith

Through Christ, I am strengthened to fulfil my calling. I lay aside every weight and every sin that entangles me. My heart is attentive, my mind is focused, and I am ready to obey. By God’s grace, I run my race with endurance.
