Adopted into God’s Family

Ephesians 1:5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.
Salvation did more than forgive your sins; it brought you into the family of God. Through Jesus Christ, you have been adopted as God’s own child.
You are no longer a stranger trying to gain acceptance with God. You belong to Him. You have been given a new identity, a new family and a new relationship with your Heavenly Father.
Romans 8:15 declares, ‘For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.’ The Spirit of God within you confirms that God is not distant from you. He is your Father.
Adoption speaks of acceptance, belonging and inheritance. In Christ, you have been fully welcomed into God’s household. You are not a second-class member of His family. You have access to the Father and you share in the inheritance that belongs to His children.
Galatians 4:6–7 says, ‘And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.’
This means you should no longer approach God with the mentality of an abandoned person. You are loved, wanted and accepted in Christ. You can come boldly into His presence, knowing that you belong there.
Your earthly experiences may sometimes make you feel rejected, forgotten or unwanted, but your spiritual identity is settled. Your Heavenly Father has chosen you and brought you into His family through Jesus Christ.
Today, live with the consciousness that God is your Father and you are His child. You belong to the household of faith, and everything the Father has provided in Christ is now your inheritance.
Confession of Faith
I am a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ. I have received the Spirit of adoption. God is my Father, and I belong to His family. I am accepted, loved and welcomed in His presence. I am no longer a stranger; I am a son and an heir of God through Christ. I walk today with the confidence of one who knows that I belong to my father’s house. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
