Made Righteous in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Righteousness is not a reward for good behaviour; it is God’s gift to everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. On the cross, Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness. This divine exchange changed our standing before God permanently.
You are not trying to become righteous through prayer, fasting, giving or religious performance. These are important spiritual disciplines, but they cannot earn right standing with God. You were made righteous the moment you received Christ.
This means you can approach God without fear, guilt or condemnation. You do not come before Him as an unwanted stranger but as His beloved child. Your confidence is not in your perfect conduct; it is in the finished work of Jesus.
The enemy may remind you of your past mistakes, weaknesses or failures. Refuse to define yourself by what you have done. See yourself according to what Christ has accomplished for you. You are forgiven, accepted, justified and clothed in the righteousness of God.
Your feelings may change, but your position in Christ remains secure. Therefore, pray boldly, worship freely and live confidently. As you become conscious of your righteousness in Christ, sin loses its power, condemnation disappears, and your life begins to reflect the character of Jesus.
Confession of Faith
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am forgiven, accepted and free from condemnation. I approach God with confidence because Jesus has given me right standing with the Father. My past does not define me; Christ defines me. I live today in the freedom, victory and righteousness of Christ. Amen.
