Redemption Was Completed

Redemption means deliverance secured through the payment of a price. Humanity was held under the power of sin, condemnation and spiritual death, but Jesus Christ paid the complete price for our freedom with His own blood. Under the Old Covenant, animal sacrifices were offered repeatedly because they could not permanently remove sin. The priests returned continually with new sacrifices, showing that the work was never complete. But Jesus entered the presence of God once and obtained eternal redemption for us. When Jesus declared, “It is finished,” He announced that the price had been fully paid. Nothing remained outstanding. His blood satisfied the demands of divine justice and secured forgiveness, righteousness and reconciliation with God for everyone who believes. Our redemption is not temporary. It does not depend upon our feelings, circumstances or personal performance. It is eternal because it rests upon the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:7 says that in Christ, we have redemption through His blood and the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of God’s grace. Redemption is therefore not merely something we hope to receive someday; it is a present possession of every believer in Christ. You are no longer a slave to sin, fear or condemnation. You have been purchased by the blood of Jesus and brought into God’s family. The enemy has no legal right to hold you under the bondage from which Christ has redeemed you. Do not live like someone still waiting to be delivered. Believe the finished work of Christ and walk daily in the freedom He has purchased. Redemption was completed. The price was paid. You belong to God.
